Salem Democratic City Committee Meeting Minutes

Meeting started at 6:00 p.m.
Treasurer Michael Cusick reported balance in checking account of $2,129.
Rep. Many Cruz spoke, providing highlights of bills in the legislative session. Highlights included:
MassDreams will enable first-time homebuyers to obtain $50,000 for a home purchase.
Commonwealth Builders will enable small affordable housing developers to build in gateway cities.
The Fair Share Amendment generated $2 billion, which will fund transportation and education programs such as universal pre-kindergarten for the next three years.
Cruz also announced that the South Salem commuter rail station received a $2.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation that will fund the design stage of the station.
New Business
Motion was passed to accept a change in the quorum from 10% to 20% of members. Currently, there are 63 members of the committee.
Motion was passed to accept all of the other bylaw changes.
Motion was passed to add Diane Yates to be an at-large member of the executive committee.
Two new members were voted in: Patricia Rahn and Joseph Buttner.
There will be no meeting in October.
