Minutes for April 18, 2023 meeting



Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m.

13 people present; 10 Zoom attendees


Motion to approve minutes of March 21 meeting.


New Business


Liz mentioned that we have 240 people on email list.

Ward chairs have been given access to email list


Need a volunteer to take position of treasurer


Billy Jackson gave presentation on ranked choice voting. Jackson is chairman of Rank the Vote, a grass roots organization that trains organizations across the country on RCV initiatives.


Committee passed a motion to endorse adopting RCV in Salem.

It was noted on the 2020 RCV ballot initiative a majority of Salem residents voted in favor.

If city council voted to adopt RCV, a home rule petition would have to go to the state


There is a sign up list for two upcoming events:

  • Pride parade, June 24

  • Salem United parade, July 15


Next meeting on May 23 at Community Life Center is a caucus meeting to elect delegates to the state convention on September 23.
